snOMG

We got about 2 feet of snow this weekend. It's the most we've had since we moved here, and we had to hire someone to clear our driveway so we can get out. This is the goat/chicken yard. It's not easy getting out there to tend the animals. I'm afraid my travel plans for Xmas are going to be cancelled as I can't leave them, especially if their predictions of more snow on Xmas Eve are true.

I love to watch the dogs run through the snow chutes. It's like a doggy luge!

Some scenes from my morning walk. Is it any wonder it's called Lover's Lane?

Goatly Visitors

I'm off work today, and I heard a knock at the front door.

The goats wanted to visit the pond.

I'll be back when the hostas get a little bigger.

I love this quote

"Now, I’ve done some pretty spiritual things in my life. I’ve watched the sun rise over the Acropolis, in Athens. I’ve hiked in the red rocks of Sedona and felt the power of the mystical vortices. I’ve seen Barbra Streisand live on her farewell tour, twice. And yet none of these experiences comes close to what I’ve felt when I’ve adopted an animal.

This world seems so out of control at times—and you can feel absolutely powerless to have a hand in changing any of it. But when you adopt an animal, you create a little miracle. You right a little bit of what’s gone wrong on this harebrained planet of ours. You feel like every superhero rolled into one, because you took something dark and awful and made it light again."

Carol Leifer, in When You Lie About Your Age, the Terrorists Win, 2009.
